Blue Bird

Fluxus Box  “Pinhead”  masking tape, acrylic paint, spray paint, foam board, model magic, blue LED lights, nails Height: 15” Length: 15” Width: 15” Artist Statement: This box was inspired by the movie “Hellraiser”. I took inspiration from the color pallet, gore aesthetics, and structural aspects of the movie. The color pallet is my favorite part of the piece because it plays off the over-saturated complementary blue and orange colors. Memento “Blue Bird” balsa wood, blue acrylic paint, blue feathers Height: 2 1/2” Length: 6” Width: 2 3/4” Artist Statement: This piece was created as tribute to a friend of mine who passed away two years ago. I remember he had the biggest and brightest blue eyes and that inspired me to choose the monochromatic color scheme for my sculpture. It’s entirely morbid, but the box is constructed so that it appears to resemble the shape of a rectangular coffin.
